Fall is here and it sure is time to get ready for the chilly days. I do need a new coat, only one problem choosing which one... I have finally narrowed it down to these 3 Banana Republic coats. Why do I have to choose? I just love them all! Aaaaaargh!

Scientific research is a real complicated venture. Some days your experiments work and you are on a roll. On other days you never observe what you were expecting. This is not necessarily a bad thing, many phenomena were found this way either as something that hindered an experiment from working or as a mistake. Sometimes when you cant see things go your way in the lab you try again and again and again but if the trend is not seen again it might have been just a fluke! Sigh!
You cant continue wasting time and money on something that cant be reproduced so what do you do? You move on to another project, something else that shows better results and a promise of a real find in the future. Most researchers know this but when it actually happens in your work you feel like you are giving up and maybe if you would run the protocol one more time you would see good results ...at least I do. My work is my baby its just hard to move on after a failed attempt but hey you learn from it and re-doing it a hundredth time is not going to make something magically appear. Moving on doesn't mean giving up on the project or forgetting it. It means while you work on other scientific endeavors you keep the other idea at the back of your head, at the back burner. Who knows maybe one day you might come back to it with fresh eyes and new perspectives. I guess the same applies to other things in life, sometimes if things are not working its better to move on. Being stuck and obsessing on the same thing does not help change it. New ideas come while you are already working Since my move I live very close to work and school now so I have been walking there every morning. This is a good morning exercise but it comes with a catch; My handbag is heavy and my shoulders are complaining. I have decided to look for a stylish backpack that can fit my 15 inch computer and the rest of the many things that I stuff in my everyday bag. I found this perfect Mansur Gavriel one in the top picture in Rosa but unfortunately it is $950 and thus way out of my price range. So I have made a list of my picks that are under $100.
Joggers!!! I have seen a couple and I am definitely in love with them. I tried some on at Pacsun. I nearly bought them ... But you know me I rarely buy full priced items,I am waiting for them to go on sale! Scented Candle! I am not one for scented candles but I was at Bath and Body works and this Honeysuckle candle just got to me. It smells so beautiful. Bag! You always need a new bag! You dont even need a reason to buy one. This Aldo bag can fit a 15 inch computer too ... great or what? Waiting for it to go on sale too.
Its the weekend! For me this means its time to cook ... I have had this cake a number of times but I had never had the guts to make my own. This was my first trial and boy was it easy and tasty too!
Ingredients 2 Apples 1/2 cup sugar 1 lemon (I didn't have lemons I used 3 teaspoons of concentrated lemon juice) 2 eggs 1 and 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
Enjoy with tea or some ice cream! So it was my birthday a couple of days ago. I had a blast and obviously a moment of self reflection. I decided to make a list of the things I think are important that I have learnt so far.
My morning song these days ... Well since I have to wear closed shoes in Lab even though its summer, I decided that I might as well do it in style (but still on a budget :P) H&M came to the rescue. I got some really cool flats that I can dress up or down. Yayy me! Surprisingly the brown ones were the cheapest but are the most comfortable. And to think that I nearly didn't get them>>> I bought the brown ones the last!! The blue ones got me with that bow! The print ones have a a gold shimmer that I just couldn't resist!
Oh H&M why do you make me love you so.... An ode to all women out there; You are all beautiful just the way you are! "You and I" is one of my favorite songs off of John Legend's latest album and then this video comes out! No words to describe this. Just wonderful! I try to cook a lot of food on the weekends so that I avoid cooking after work. On the weekdays I just reheat. This stir-fry-like pasta is one of my favorites on the lazy days. It takes a very short time to prepare. Ingredients Pasta 1 Onion Pureed Tomatoes 1 tin Baked beans 250G beef mince meat Seasoning (salt, pepper, curry and spices) Soy Sauce + Worcestershire sauce Oil Step by step 1.Boil the pasta in salted water. I also add a little oil to stop the pasta from sticking (I think!) 2. While the pasta boils make the mince meat: Fry until the mince meat has browned well. Add onions and other veggies like carrots and peas if you got them. 3. Add the tomatoes and baked beans. 6. Add the pasta, mix everything like crazy and you are good to go! Let it simmer for at least 5 mins to set the flavors. And its done! Simple as that. Enjoy!
